When it comes to developing lower body strength for boxing, most athletes automatically think of heavy squats. Squats are effective but they are not the only option.
For many boxers, the trap bar deadlift may actually provide a better balance of force production, athletic movement, recovery and explosive transfer into boxing performance.
The real question is not which exercise is better overall.
The real question is this:
Which exercise develops usable force for boxing without slowing movement quality, increasing unnecessary fatigue or interfering with skill work?

Not training to failure.
The squat is still a valuable exercise but for many boxers, the trap bar deadlift offers a more practical combination of strength, explosiveness, movement transfer and recovery efficiency. The goal is not to lift the most weight possible.
The goal is to build force that actually shows up in the ring.
Building strong legs alone do not create elite boxers. Efficient force transfer does.
